Alghero with its distinctive Catalan character has become a major
holiday destination. Alghero, located on the north-west coast of
Sardegna has an old town centre on the sea front consisting of a
labyrinth network of narrow lanes, most of which are car free. These
play host to numerous hotels, bars, cafés and restaurants
that preserve Alghero’s reputation of excellent seafood. Alghero
is a beautiful small town formed by old houses surrounded by a boundary
wall with ramparts. Behind the town’s walls, one can discover cobbled
streets, different churches with constructing styles. This town
is drizzled in beauty and culture.

Saturday
6th December - SASSARI
This fairly modern city is built around an old centre, which has
narrow streets and characteristic alleys. Sassari is the second-largest
town in Sardegna and one of the most ancient with a considerable
collection of Sardinian art. The morning will be spent sight-seeing
and shopping.
CASTELSARDO (Guided) – In the afternoon, a visit
to Castelsardo – a typical fortified village of the XIIth century
which is perched on a mountain promontory and is well known for
handcrafts, rush baskets, ceramics, filigrees and coral. Lovely
souvenirs can be bought here.

Sunday
7th December – NUORO & ORGOSOLO
Nuoro is a town located at the slopes of Mount Ortobene. A visit
to the museum of Sardinian Costumes and then proceed to Orgosolo
to enjoy a typical Sardinian lunch with local shepherds . A characteristic
in the streets of Orgosolo are the murals painted on the walls.
On the return trip, one can admire the Nuraghe, monuments of great
archaeological importance made of stone and built in a truncated
cone shape. These were used as temples and places to live in. These
megalithic edifices are today considered a symbol of Sardegna.

Monday 8th December - BOSA
This ancient town of Bosa is of pre-Carthaginian origin. Situated
along the valley of the River Temo, Bosa is the only riverside town
in Sardegna. Of particular interest, is the church of S. Pietro,
which is among the most significant Romanesque works on the island
and the Castle of Serravalle. Bosa is famous for its lace and Malvasia
wine.
